PTG - Tyre Inflation Systems

PTG are the leading developers of tyre inflation machinery in Europe, offering precise tyre inflation products for a variety of market sectors, including the public transport, industrial and defence industries.

Semi-automatic tyre inflation system for military vehicles and light trucks

The Semi-automatic tyre inflation system (STIS) is a time-tested system where the operator adjusts tyre pressure whilst the vehicle is stationary. After connecting the hoses via a hose depot with a spiral hose or alternatively a connecting hose the driver does not have to supervise the adjustment, but can work on other issues. For tyre inflation a high performance compressor is fitted, which can be switched on and off as required. The STIS is available through leading manufactures such as Daimler Chrysler and Rheinmetall.

Tyre pressurization on the move

The STIS is based on a permanently fixed quick coupling system and an additional compressor system to make it possible to change tyre pressure anytime, anywhere. The pneumatic control unit guarantees trouble free operations under even the hardest conditions. The unit works fast and is easy to handle. If the pre-dialled pressure is reached the adjustment process is stopped and the systems keeps the chosen pressure value until the hoses are dismantled.

Special quick coupling valves are mounted to the existing valves after the original insert has been removed, changing the speed of pressure. Alternative the coupling valve is fixed directly to the rim. The system is connected to the tyres with spiral hoses. For each tyre a hose depot is placed nearby, which is connected to the control unit. Each spiral hose has a working length of around 1.5m.

For optical reason the connection can also be made by loose hoses. In this case there will only be unimposing couplings near the bumpers where the hoses are connected. The loose hoses are stored in the trunk if not in use.

Two-piston tyre compressor

The control unit, used for redialling the desired pressure, can be either mounted to be reached from outside the UV or be in the driver’s cabin, under the driver’s seat or in the middle console.

The compressor system consists of a high performance two-piston compressor, a small air reservoir and the compressor control. The components are mounted either (depending on the model) within or under the vehicle. A separate power switch on the switchboard can cut of the compressor at any time (installation possible in most cases).

Autonomous operation of STIS STIS can operate almost completely autonomously.
Large military truck which could be suitable for STIS STIS is an allows for totally hands-free inflation.
Military vehicles with large tyres are ideal candidates for STIS STIS is ideal for inflating light military vehicle tires.
STIS allows for quick coupling and uncoupling.
