Teleplan deploys Maritime GIS with MARIA in the UK

Teleplan is a sub-contractor for Norcontrol IT and delivers the GIS functionality required for the UK AIS Network as specified by the Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA). The system must meet the high standards set by the MCA and IALA for AIS infrastructure.
Teleplan’s high performance GIS application MARIA© have once again proved its flexibility and modularity as a systems building block.
Live AIS data will be displayed in near real-time on fifty Operator Workstations at the MCA’s Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centres located throughout the UK. Fast response is essential in order to provide the required level of situational awareness of the maritime domain and to enable Coastguard personnel to interact with vessels. Additionally, the system provides functionality to provide early warning based on AIS data,so that operators are advised of potential conflicts and contraventions.
With the high-value of AIS data towards safety and security, Teleplan is proud of supporting Norcontrol IT in the demanding task of creating a highly distributed UK AIS network supporting different governmental organizations.
