ZF AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS IN MAN SX AND HX RANGES

ZF Ecomat powershift gearboxes and ZF AS-Tronic AMT transmissions have been specified in the MAN multi-wheeled medium and improved-medium mobility cargo carriers for the Ministry of Defence. These electronically controlled transmissions provide two pedal control and automatic selection of the optimal gear in all operating conditions.

BAE SYSTEMS AS90 SELF-PROPELLED GUN WITH ZF 4LSG2000 STEERING TRANSMISSION

ZF Great Britain has actively supported the AS90 howitzer platform throughout its life, delivering a sustained factory-based transmission overhaul and repair program. Diagnostic and system optimisation has also been provided in the field by ZF Great Britain DMR technicians, to vehicles deployed in Iraq, Canada and Europe.

ZF ECOMAT IN WHEELED DEFENCE AND LOGISTIC APPLICATIONS

Around 2500 ZF Ecomats are in service with the British Army. The six-speed ZF 6HP500 and 6HP600 ranges are widely used in modern defence vehicles. DROPS (Foden & Leyland produced versions), M3 and BR90 bridge vehicles are all in service with the tried-and-tested Ecomat family of automatic torque convertor gearboxes. Further Ecomat applications, including the general dynamics FRES platform, and MOWAG Piranha are entering service all fitted with Ecomat derivatives, including the HP902 transmission range.

ZF KEEPING THE BRITISH ARMY ON THE MOVE

This includes the car-derived ZF 4HP22 in the BAe systems Pinzgauer and ZF 6HP260 in the Iveco LMV Panther, through the Kalmar RTCH with the ZF 4WG310 powershift transmission, to the BAe Haglunds FBRV fitted with the ZF 4HP250 steering transmission, which features in the Leopard 1 MBT.
