The prestigious 2006 national defence technology exchange innovation awards competition, organised by Shephard, the DDA and The Daily Telegraph, was aimed at highlighting innovation and technology transfer across a wide variety of market disciplines, which are adaptable over a number of defence and commercial sectors.
Telutami’s innovative and lightweight emergency casualty evacuation system clearly impressed the judges, and managing director Jon Price was delighted by the award. "We were up against some very tough opposition in this category," he commented. "The number of high-quality entries from companies of all sizes made us proud to have done so well.
"It’s also a boost for the skill and capabilities of the local firms that manufacture our designs for us. Now we are looking forward to consolidating our ECS into other health and safety markets, as well as to further develop other products that we are working on, which include emergency hazardous area warning lights and sensors and an innovative anti-blast product.
"Telutami has proven that it can come up with a winning concept-to-market product that provides versatile and multi-role capability and points the way in which the company is committed. With new impetus through membership of the embryonic defence innovation group and other planned initiatives, the intention is to highlight Telutami’s ability to design and provide real innovation for real problems."
