Revision Desert Locust Goggle Wins Second Major European Tender with Netherlands Contract

20 May 2009

Revision Eyewear, a leading manufacturer of ballistic protective eyewear worldwide, has been awarded a contract for 10,600 Desert Locust goggles by the Netherlands Defence Material Organisation (DMO).

Winning the second major European goggle contract awarded in the past two years, Revision continues to position itself as the end-user and programme-level protective eyewear of choice, surpassing all other eyewear in evaluation criteria such as soldier feedback, technical compliance, compatibility with service equipment and overall best value.

Alex Hooper, Revision Eyewear's vice-president of international sales, said: "Receiving the Netherlands contract is an honour. In addition to the features of the standard Desert Locust goggle, such as interchangeable, optically flawless lenses, widest field-of-view, superior defence against fogging and scratching and the flexible, virtually indestructible frame, the Desert Locust goggle will feature special customisations including a quick-release buckle and gripper strap for secure over-helmet fit."

Having previously purchased almost 40,000 sets of Revision Sawfly® spectacles, the Netherlands DMO is familiar with the consistent quality, workmanship, ballistic and field performance of Revision Eyewear products. The fact that one Rx insert can be used in both the Sawfly spectacles and the Desert Locust goggles is a definite advantage for those soldiers who require vision correction to perform at their best.

Revision's international success in other markets, such as the US, Canada and its 2008 win of the Swiss Armed Forces (Armasuisse) goggle contract, further cements its position as the protective eyewear of choice for NATO and European countries. All these factors are believed to have played a role in the Netherlands' selection of the Revision Desert Locust for their goggle requirements.
