Canadian Department of National Defence Awards Second Major Contract to Revision Eyewear Inc.

$1.2million contract for ballistic protective visor
MONTREAL, May 19, 2004 – Revision Eyewear Inc., developers of innovative performance-driven eyewear, today announced a contract for $1.2 million with the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) to provide a ballistic protective visor (BPV) system to Canada’s Armed Forces.
Delivery of more than 15,000 BPVs will start in late 2005 and conclude in the spring of 2006. This contract includes an option for renewal thereafter.
Fully compatible with in-service helmets, the Revision BPV provides a high degree of optical and facial protection against low energy fragments for ground forces in high threat environments. Additionally, the BPV delivers UV protection and offers an excellent grade of optical clarity for completely undistorted vision.
Revision announced a first contract to provide 80,000 pairs of Ballistic Eyewear (BEW) to the DND in September 2003. The distribution of BEW is underway and several Canadian Forces units are expected to be actively using BEW in the field by mid-summer.
“These visors will provide our soldiers with ballistic protection from the many physical threats that characterize modern operations,” said David Pratt, Minister of National Defence.
“Ballistic protection is essential for Canadian Forces personnel conducting land operations,” said General Ray Henault, the Chief of the Defence Staff.
