Livermore, Ca. (August, 25, 2005) - Wiley X Eyewear, the preferred eyewear of the U.S. Armed Forces, has developed a new Combat Goggle / Spectacle system with an interchangeable Rx insert.
Wiley X has been supplying the United States finest fighting forces for over 19 years. We have worked closely with military and federal law enforcement designing ballistic goggles and spectacles for all types of operations conducted. Wiley X has devoted a specific department to the development and creation of new and innovative designs based on feedback from soldiers and officers in the field.
HVP™ - High Velocity Protection, is the theory behind the Wiley X designs. These modular systems combine several eye protecting functions in one. Wiley X prides itself on designing modular eye protection that can be worn for multiple applications whether its general safety or close quarters combat.
Due to the ever changing combat environment and the needs of armed forces worldwide, Wiley X has developed a new Goggle ( goggle name to be determined) in conjunction with the PT-1. Along with these new eye protection systems, Wiley X has developed an Rx insert which fits into both the Goggle and the PT-1. Since there are a significant percentage of eyewear users that require prescriptions, it is only logical that protective eyewear encompass their needs as well.
The Goggle is the most compact, low-profile tactical goggle there is. Night vision compatible. This Goggle also seals the eyes from debris and dust while providing the most ventilation in the industry. The Goggle boasts the highest level of impact protection, passing the ANSI Z87.1-2003, ANSI Z80.3 safety / optical standards and the MIL-V-43511C ballistic requirement, has a 2.5mm lens in Neutral Slate and Clear, and the highest anti-fog performance achievable.
PT-1 boasts a Triloid™ Nylon frame that is weight balanced, lightweight, comfortable and tough. The PT-1 is an 8 base, 2.3mm polycarbonate lens system which surpasses the ANSI Z87.1-2003, ANSI Z80.3 safety / optical standards and MIL-PRF-31013 ballistic requirement. The PT-1 comes standard with Neutral Slate and Clear lens tints. The Interchangeable Rx insert is made of the same Triloid™ Nylon which can snap into the Goggle or the PT-1 nosepiece and can accommodate Rx corrections up to +/- 11.<./p>
With the need for eye protection ever increasing, in all environments around the world, developing an eye protection "system" that has the capability of protecting everyone's needs is paramount. According to the New England Journal of Medicine (Dec. 9, 2004), Wiley X ballistic eyewear is one of the main reasons for the decreasing amount of eye injuries suffered by soldiers. With the cost of prescriptions being a burden to all users of eyewear, it becomes essential that a user can use their Rx insert in multiple styles of eye protection dictated by the environment that they are in.
