Global Armour - Ballistic Helmets and Face Shields, Body Armour and IED Suits

Global Armour is headquartered in Durban, South Africa, and is a leading provider of personal protection products for the military and police around the world. Its founders have over 40 years' experience in specialist armour products and manufacturing.

Ballistic helmets

Our ballistic helmets provide high ballistic performance with low weight, through a unique manufacturing process using high-tenacity ballistic aramid fibre, bound in a thermoplastic resin matrix.

Police combat helmets

We manufacture a helmet especially designed for the police, with a reduced profile and less prominent ear coverage to ensure a better field of vision and allows the helmet to be used with weapons and scopes. A lightweight helmet designed for SWAT and other specialist operatives in the police is also available, featuring reduced ear coverage and no lip.

PASGT and PASCUT helmets

We supply a lightweight version of the US military's PASGT (personal armor system for ground troops) helmet. This helmet is much lighter than the standard PASGT helmet and is available with both a three-point and four-point suspension system. The PASCUT helmet variant is a lighter, more compact helmet then the PASGT helmet with reduced ear coverage and a higher lip. We also supply a cut-away version of the PASGT helmet with no ear coverage and no lip for special forces operatives.

Ballistic face shields

We supply NIJ Level II and Level IIIA rated ballistic face shields. Made from laminated polycarbonate and acrylic, our ballistic face shields are capable of stopping handgun rounds ranging from standard 9mm to .44 Magnum calibres.

Anti-riot armor

Our anti riot armor consist of a multi-layered fibreglass and aramid anti-riot helmet, a lightweight plastic plate and foam upper body protector, EVA foam wrist and groin protectors, and hard polyethylene leg braces with built in kneepads.

Ballistic body armour

Our body armour is available in a multitude of armour configurations: ballistic, stab-resistant, fragmentation resistant and flotation. We use a variety of ballistic materials including: woven and unidirectional aramid and high-performance polyethylene.

Concealable ballistic vests

Our general-purpose ballistic vest is a basic armour vest providing front, back and side ballistic protection. Our concealable vest follows the contours of the body and is a side-opening vest with adjustable elastic shoulders and a small front-plate pocket.

Police and police assault vests

Our standard police vest has front, back and side ballistic protection with front and back armour plate pockets and is side-opening with adjustable shoulder straps. Our police assault vest is a front-opening tactical vest designed for over-the-uniform wear; offering extensive front, back and side ballistic protection, with adjustable shoulders and a small, helmet-friendly collar.

Military and military assault vests

Our standard military vest provides full front, back and overlapping side, neck, shoulder and groin ballistic protection for military personnel and special forces operatives. Our military assault vest is a high-mobility front-opening vest, worn over BDUs. It offers full front, back, overlapping side, neck, shoulder and groin ballistic protection.

Ballistic flotation vests

The Global Armour Northgear ballistic flotation vest provides ballistic protection and acts as a flotation vest. Buoyancy is not lost if the vest is penetrated by bullets or fragments.

Fragmentation vest

Our lightweight fragmentation vest provides front, back and side fragmentation protection.

Demining vests and aprons, and IED search suits

Our demining vest provides maximum possible front, back, side, neck, shoulder and groin protection against fragments and explosions from detonating mines for deminers and EOD/IED specialists. Our demining apron provides protection for the front, neck, shoulder and groin areas at the front, leaving the back exposed, ensuring the apron can be worn for long periods without excessive heat build-up. The knees are reinforced with padding for maximum comfort. Our IED search suit provides full body protection against fragments and explosions. The outer fabric is water, fire and chemical-proof.

Ceramic and polyethylene armour plates

We offer a complete line of high-performance steel, ceramic and lightweight polyethylene armour plates, designed to fit all our vests and provide protection against high-velocity weapons, covering NIJ Level III and IV (armour piercing). Our ceramic armour plates are made from aluminium-oxide 98% monolithic-tile, bonded with aramid or fibreglass - available as single or multi-curve, covered in black material and foam. We also offer lightweight, polyethylene armour plates constructed of Spectra and Dyneema in single or multi-curve, with a plastic or fabric finish.
