BGF engineers high performance fabrics to meet the stringent criteria of the advanced composites industry. Three different fibers are utilized: fiber glass, aramid, and carbon. Each fiber offers its own unique advantages when engineered into a woven fabric, thus allowing the highest performance possible from the end product.

Aramid fibers are several times stronger than steel, light weight, and nonflammable. Carbon provides very high strength and high thermal conductivity, and is very low in weight and density. Fiber glass has high tensile strength, high heat and chemical resistance, and is dimensionally stable. BGF's finish technology creates a bond between the specified fabric and our customer's resin system. The resulting composite fabric meets or exceeds military, aerospace, and other relevant specifications.

Blast mitigation and anti-spalling composites

BGF supplies fabrics for Government programs such as: MRAP, HUMVEE advanced combat helmet (ACH), and Israeli Defense Force (IDF) helmet. Our products are used in spall liners and EFP kits, for protection against IED and EFP threats BGF also engineers specialized protective products for NBC protection, aircraft blast containment systems, and custom products for fire suppression in the transportation industry.

Bespoke composite armor

BGF’s strengths are in partnering with you to create custom safety products which address multiple threats. Our expertise in composites reinforcements gives us a unique perspective for determining the most efficient and effective system for success. BGF’s woven and unidirectional fabrics made from Kevlar®, Twaron®, S-2 Glass® and Shieldstrand® fibers can be engineered for hybrid composite solutions.

Turnkey composite armor solutions

We work closely with our fiber suppliers to understand the characteristics of the raw materials utilized and develop a custom process to manufacture fabric for every unique situation. Some of the processes available include lamination, layering and cutting for integration into any application. BGF also utilizes its own research and development laboratory for testing ballistics properties, chemical analysis and prototype development.
