24 March 2003

Watford, England. Smiths Detection has received an order for its Lightweight Chemical Detector (LCD-3), from the Danish Army Materiel Command. The LCD-3 is a small chemical detector weighing just 485 grams. It is designed for use by an individual or small group of soldiers operating away from the detection umbrella provided by the larger Smiths Detection detectors CAM, GID-2A or GID-3.

The contract calls for Smiths Detection, Watford, to provide maintenance, spares and training in addition to the operator training. The training of Danish Defence Force NBC instructors has already concluded. The LCD is currently in service with, or on order from, a total of seven countries.
