Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority awards contract for X-ray inspection systems for Greek airports.
Wiesbaden, 24 June 2004 – Smiths Detection has been awarded a contract by the Greek Ministry of Development to supply all international and regional airports in Greece with Smiths Heimann X-ray baggage inspection systems.
After extensive trials, the Smiths Heimann operation has been selected to supply X-ray inspection systems of the HI-SCAN 5180i, HI-SCAN 6040i and HI-SCAN 100100V types. In total, more than 100 units will be installed in all Greek Airports. The equipment is currently being delivered and will be operated by the Greek Police force upon installation at the respective sites.
Smiths Detection has also announced today the lease of more than 260 Smiths Heimann X-ray systems, and the sale of over 200 hand-held Chemical Agent Monitors (CAM) and a quantity of GID-3 chemical agent detectors, for use by security forces protecting the Summer Olympic Games, in Athens.
