Remploy Frontline Launches CBRN Hydration Vest for On-The-Go Hydration

14 December 2005

Trialed, tested and approved by the UK Police National CBRN Centre and now entering service with the UK Police, benchmark CBRN garment protection system provider, REMPLOY FRONTLINE, has launched the first ‘hands-free’ CBRN Hydration Vest.

The vest facilitates fast and effective on-the-go hydration without the need to stop and decontaminate. Specifically designed for use in CBRN environments where physiological burden can restrict operational time, the new Hydration Vest offers significant benefits over and above the traditional water bottle method because it allows the user to drink hands-free, quickly and easily, as and when required, without the need to decontaminate or stop working.

The vest holds up to 3 litres of water within a CamelBak chemically hardened bladder which is designed to integrate with the Civil Responder 1 suit (CR 1). The bladder is connected via a unique push fit adaptor to a drinking tube within the respirator. The wearer simply sucks on the drinking tube to replace essential fluids quickly, safely and regularly. The integral adaptor can work with a range of respirators.

Constructed from fire retardant fabric, the uni-fit vest has two frontal zip closure dump pockets and various attachment points for pockets, allowing the wearer to tailor it to individual requirements.

This joint venture of design and manufacturing technologies between Remploy Frontline and CamelBak represents a “next generation” of CBRN products, effectively bringing specialists together to look at ways of minimising the physiological burden issues associated with effective CBRN protection.

The CBRN Hydration Vest is available in a variety of colours and is currently in the process of gaining CE Mark accreditation.
