Graseby Dynamics Limited (Watford Herts UK) is pleased to announce the receipt and delivery of an order for GID-2A™ naval CW detectors for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). The detectors are to equip a number of classes of ship including FFG, ANZAC frigates and auxiliary vessels. The order follows discussions with the RAN, the Department of Defence and Defence Scientific and Technology Office. In country support and assistance is being provided by Graseby's representatives in Australia, Owen International.

Graseby was able to fulfil the order at short notice by diverting deliveries from UK Royal Navy orders. The change in delivery schedule was agreed by both governments and facilitated by the DESO and the Directorate of Equipment Capability NBC and the MDMS IPT of the UK MOD. This approach followed previous selection of GID-2A by the Australian Government. The RN deliveries are being replaced from scheduled production.

The total order value is in the region of £500,000 and covers; selection of installation location, commissioning, setting to work and includes user and first line maintenance training. These other activities are part of the full range of activities provided by Graseby as part of its normal supply of equipment to customers. The order has included provision of the TBSS™. Developed to reduce the price, size and weight of the existing in service Through Bulkhead Unit (TBU) TBSS has proved popular in the ship building world since it became available less than 12 months ago.

GID-2A was a joint development by Graseby and the Porton Down Chemical and Biological Defence Establishment. The design incorporates a number of features that ensures the IMS operating technology is optimised to the maritime environment and as a result the number of false positive and negative alarms are minimised.
