Calgon Carbon, and its European operation Chemviron Carbon, is a global leader in activated carbon technology and related equipment, as well as UV oxidation and disinfection technologies for military and industrial applications. GRANULAR, POWDERED, AND PELLETIZED ACTIVATED CARBON

Calgon Carbon provides more than 100 activated carbon products in granular, powdered, and pelletized forms, supporting these products with the industry's largest R&D group. Included in this product portfolio is an extensive selection of impregnated activated carbons, for military as well as industrial applications.

Calgon Carbon produces and supplies ASZM-TEDA 12x30, as well as the ASC or Whetlerite product line, specifically developed for Chemical Warfare (CW) agents. An extensive line of industrial products, such as URC and UFR, have been developed for TIC / TIMs, with the UFR product being specifically developed to meet the stringent CBRN requirements for respirators.

ACTIVATED CARBON CLOTH

Activated Carbon Cloth (ACC) represents a family of activated carbons in cloth form manufactured by Chemviron Carbon. These products are fundamentally unique in several important ways compared with the traditional forms of activated carbon and other filtration-media that incorporate small particles of activated carbon.

Developed in the early 1970s, ACC products are similar to traditional activated carbon products in that they are 100% activated carbon. This gives the products the same high capacity for adsorption of organic compounds and other odorous gases as the more traditional pelletized, granular and powder forms of activated carbon.

As with the traditional forms of activated carbons, ACC products can be impregnated with a range of chemicals to enhance the chemisorption capacity for selected gases.

FILTER-CLAMPING CONTAINMENT SYSTEMS

Calgon Carbon has manufactured and supplied containment systems incorporating innovative filter-clamping concepts and manufacturing techniques for over 40 years. Filter elements installed in containment systems include:

• High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA)
• Ultra-Low Penetration Air (ULPA)
• High-Efficiency Gas Adsorbers (HEGA)
• Pre-filters to increase service life of downstream filters

Containment systems are supplied with one of the two clamping methods:

• Gasket seal
• Knife-edge seal

Calgon Carbon's Bag-In / Bag-Out (BIBO) systems provide protection from chemical warfare agents and nuclear/radiological or biological contaminants. Our containment operations are NQA-1 (Nuclear Quality Assurance) approved.

ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT WATER-TREATMENT TECHNOLOGY

Calgon Carbon's UV technologies division has installed hundreds of systems for treating a broad spectrum of contaminated groundwater, wastewater, process water, and drinking water.  

More than 20 years ago, Calgon Carbon introduced an advanced UV oxidation process to remediate contaminated groundwater. In 1998, we followed that up with the first radical breakthrough in the treatment of drinking water in decades. That's when our scientists invented a process that could be used to inactivate Cryptosporidium and other similar pathogens in surface water, rendering them harmless to humans.

This inventive water-treatment process placed Calgon Carbon on the leading edge of UV disinfection technology, and we remain at the cutting edge today. With the Sentinel® line for drinking water, the C³ Series™ for wastewater, and the Rayox® line for groundwater and process water, Calgon Carbon continues to lead the marketplace with innovative UV water-treatment technologies.
