Bioquell - Vehicle and Shelter CBRN Protection and Cooling Systems

Bioquell has been selling its MDH defence range of CBRN and environmental control technologies for over 40 years to design, develop, manufacture and support collective protection (COLPRO) systems for the chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) defence of military vehicles. In addition, Bioquell's HPV technology can also be used to eradicate biological weapons and chemical weapons from key assets, including sensitive equipment and critical facilities.

Vehicle and shelter CBRN protection and cooling systems

Bioquell specialises in providing the following CBRN protection solutions to the defence industry:

• Vehicle CBRN filtration systems - an adaptable and versatile NBC filtration system can be configured to provide either full over pressure collective protection, filtered air for a face mask system or a combination of over pressure and face mask
• Vehicle crew cooling units - to maximise operational capability of any vehicle and its crew it is essential to provide an efficient system for crew cooling
• Unhardened collective protection - the unhardened collective protection system (UCPS) provides military and civilian personnel with a very high level of protection from potential CBRN hazards
• Rigid shelter CBRN filtration systems - biological and Chemical (NBC) filtration system for rigid and ISO Container type shelters
• NBC filters, spares and support services - Bioquell also manufacturers a range of spares. Reverse engineering is also offered as a service for parts that our customers are finding difficult to source

Vehicle CBRN protection systems

Bioquell provide a number of vehicle NBC filtration systems which incorporate their MDH defence product range with commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) parts, ensuring an affordable and reliable low lifecycle cost system.

Vehicle crew cooling units

The Bioquell Defence 5kW and 9kW crew cooling systems incorporate COTS parts to produce an extremely efficient, affordable and reliable low life cycle cost crew cooling system.

To maximise operational capability of any vehicle and its crew it is essential to provide an efficient system for crew cooling. The system uses a conventional vapour cycle process using R134a refrigerant conforming to the Montreal protocol.

Rigid shelter NBC filtration systems

Our new NBC filtration system for rigid and ISO container type shelters incorporates COTS parts to produce an affordable and reliable, low life-cycle cost NBC filtration system.

This adaptable and versatile NBC filtration system, can be configured to provide clean filtered air directly into the shelter or via the platform air conditioning system as the fresh air make up.

The equipment is designed as an adaptable system that can be engineered to suit a variety of airflow and shelter pressure requirements. It incorporates the NATO standard No. 1 composite NBC filter rated at 170m³/hr and a new fan motor configuration.

Transportable unhardened collective protection (UCPS)

The UCPS provides military and civilian personnel with a very high level of protection from potential CBRN hazards. The system was designed for the UK Ministry of Defence by Bioquell Defence and provides rest and relief from the effects of wearing full individual protective equipment (IPE or MOPS). The system can provide CBRN collective protection for field hospitals, command and control centres, medical dressing stations and static logistic support facilities.

Bioquell Defence can supply a range of different NBC filters including:

• 300m³/hr Nato naval filter
• 85m³/hr No. 5 Mk4 anti-vapour filter
• 375m³/hr UCPS composite filter
