Swedish Defense Forces Invest in Tiger

20 August 2009

Swedish Defense Forces are investing in communications security and accordingly FMV, the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration, is ordering more Tiger XS for encrypted telephony from Sectra.

FMV is also ordering Sectra's crypto for tactical radio. These crypto products protect telephone calls and radio communication from eavesdropping and are used by Swedish-led task forces. The order value is Skr18m.

Earlier this year, the FMV commissioned Sectra to further develop Tiger XS to enable users of Tiger XS to communicate securely and directly with users of Sectra's crypto for tactical radio systems. This enables peacekeeping forces such as the Nordic Battlegroup to communicate securely and directly between headquarters and troops in the field.

"Demand for easy-to-use crypto products is considerable and Sweden is at the leading edge of development in terms of products for the protection of communications from eavesdropping. Sectra has been delivering crypto products to the Swedish defense forces since the 1980s and this successful cooperation is continuing," said Michael Bertilsson, president of Sectra Communications.

Sectra Tiger for encrypted telephony

Tiger XS is a personal voice encryptor that protects telephone calls from eavesdropping over telephone lines, GSM, 3G, ISDN and IP networks as well as via satellite systems. Tiger has been certified by the EU, NATO and several government authorities for national security purposes, making it the most secure product in the market for encrypted telephony.

Sectra's crypto for tactical radio

Sectra's voice encryptor for tactical radios protects radio communications between vehicles and troops in the field from eavesdropping. Sectra's crypto is flexible and protects communication over the radio networks Ra 180 and Ra 1512 as well as over IP-based tactical networks.
