The MilsMessage encryption system was released at the beginning of 2005, and it quickly became mils electronic's new flagship project in the meaning of secure message exchange solutions.

MilsMessage introduced state-of-the-art design into the quite conservative world of high-level encryption suppliers. The MilsCard, introduced together with MilsMail and MilsFile (System 200) in April 2002, became the cryptographic heart of MilsMessage, helping form a perfect setup for a secure messaging installation.

MILSMESSAGE ENCRYPTION SYSTEM CONCEPT

The MilsMessage client is a secure messaging application, which can only be accessed using a valid and authorised MilsCard. Once signed-in, the user finds himself in a modern Windows®-based application offering the look and feel of a standard e-mail client. Thus, it is very easy to navigate around.

Another advantage of MilsMessage is the pre-defined address book. It comes together with a MilsCard (instead of being stored on the computer's hard disk) which can be prepared by the administrator of the network.

After creation of the confidential message, which may contain the classification level, a message text, any attached files (documents, pictures, tables, etc.) and priority level, the user is free to select between sending the message by e-mail or storing it on a file destination for further transmission handling (HF/VHF radio, courier, etc.). In both cases, the message is encrypted prior to sending either by applying the unbreakable one time key (one time pad) method, or by using one of mils electronic's strong encryption algorithms.

MILSCARD USB

Even stronger support to MilsMessage was given by the MilsCard USB, which was released in early 2006. Its very adaptable interface makes it a common tool, especially for standard desktop PCs.

MILS BLOCK CIPHER

The same year also saw the introduction of the Mils Block Cipher (MBC), which is a fully customisable 256Bit block cipher algorithm. This gives the customer the chance to receive a proprietary national algorithm within the MilsCard USB. As a result, not only are the sensitive one-time-used initialisation keys kept secret, but the algorithm itself is kept secure against unauthorised access.

CUSTOMISABLE ENCRYPTION SYSTEM

An encryption solution of this kind has to fit perfectly into the existing communication network. During the development of MilsMessage special attention was paid to the customisation possibilities of the application and its cryptographic environment. 60 years of experience influenced the design of this project and its modular setup.

Since its release, several interesting customisation projects have been successfully completed and entirely satisfied the special needs of our valued customers. The system has not only been used for standard adaptations like interface languages or algorithm designs: complete workflow processes have also been realised with MilsMessage.

Together with mils electronic's technical sales channel, the customers incorporated their standard messaging procedures within the MilsMessage client and turned it to their very own 'encrypting organism' – within their administration body.

Very straightforward concepts were realised, enabling mils electronic to learn more about its customers' needs. This puts us in a position to develop new standard versions covering already quite useful functionalities.

We are very interested in developing your very own MilsMessage solution and look forward to being of service to you. We are a completely trustworthy partner in protecting your valuable information.
