Innovative Concepts’ latest release incorporates VMF r5, SATCOM email capabilities, and a new product demonstration of DigiTAC™.

McLean, VA – July 15, 2004 - Innovative Concepts, a data communications technology development company and the world’s engineering design authority for IDM Technology®, announces the release of PCIDM™ V2.80. The PCIDM™ is a low cost, portable data communications solution that is a single Type 2 Extended PCMCIA card, paired with a full software development kit for Windows, Linux and Solaris and application software for Windows 98/NT/ME/2000/XP. The protocols available with the PCIDM™ are the same protocols used in the avionics version of the IDM, providing fully certified interoperability with any Innovative Concepts designed IDM Technology® product.

With a PCIDM™ and a computer, a user can send and receive VMF, AFAPD, TACFIRE, MTS, IDL, and MIL-STD-188-184 messages over virtually any tactical digital or analog radio. This allows combat elements to utilize their existing inventory of tactical radios to communicate with multiple platforms that support these same message sets.

PCIDM™ V2.80 incorporates the following new features:

Variable Message Format Reissue 5 (VMF r5)
AMPGUI now supports VMF r5 and the MIL-STD-2045-47001C header. With the addition of VMF r5, AMPGUI is also backward compatible with VMF r3 and VMF r2. VMF r5 is currently being used by US Army Aviation.

SATCOM Email via MIL-STD-188-184
AMPGUI now includes the ability to send email with file attachments over the MIL-STD-188-184 protocol. Integration of the MIL-STD-188-184 SATCOM capabilities allows the PCIDM™ to be used in conjunction with either 25 KHz or 5 KHz UHF tactical SATCOM channels, increasing the number of radios and functionality for use with the PCIDM™. This feature is also designed to be compatible with other commercial SATCOM modems.

DigiTAC™
DigiTAC™, the latest in integrated IDM Technology® solutions, is a revolutionary new application interface that combines the messaging capability of AMPGUI with the combat proven mapping capabilities of FalconView®. This new application gives users a complete tactical communications suite that integrates communications, mapping, and messaging to provide the complete C2 toolset. Initial users of DigiTAC are using this solution to provide data communications from a ground station to the AH-64D Apache. This demonstration is offered as a trial edition intended to generate customer interest and feedback.

Additional new features include:

  • Improved F/A-18 DCS-2000 interoperability
  • PCIDM™ Network Monitor for MIL-STD-188-220, MIL-STD-188-184, AFAPD, and MTS network traffic
  • Improved AMPGUI AFAPD message dialog user interface
