In April 2007 Enterprise Control Systems Limited (ECS) was awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category. The Award is in recognition of the company's work in COFDM links; the encrypted communication system that is used in police helicopters across the country, and in military and surveillance aircraft around the world.
As part of the Award ceremonies ECS were invited to an evening reception at Buckingham Palace given by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. Colin Bullock, Managing Director, attended with Simon Harding, Senior Digital Systems Engineer and Barry Leonard, COFDM Product Manager.
Simon is part of a team heavily involved with the design of ECS COFDM equipment and Barry who is now the Product Manager for COFDM, was previously a test engineer of COFDM equipment. Both have been with ECS for a number of years and were chosen to attend the Reception in recognition of their efforts in the development and deployment of COFDM solutions.
Colin Bullock said he felt privileged to meet the Queen, the award recognises the culmination of hard work across three decades to establish ECS at the leading edge of the electronics engineering industry. A third of our workforce is dedicated to new product development, which means that ECS can consistently lead innovation in our chosen fields.
In attendance with the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were the Duke of York, the Princess Royal, the Duke of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent, Princess Alexandra and the Honourable Lady Ogilvy.
ECS are now preparing for a presentation made by the Queen's representative, the Lord Lieutenant of the County, that will take place at ECS premises in Wappenham later this year.
