Search Mirror Reflects PW Allen’s Quality

10 August 2004 11:19

Searching for contraband under vehicles is easy and safe thanks to a trolley-type mirror launched by internal security specialist PW Allen.

The large mirror is attached to a long-reach handle and includes fluorescent lighting to give an extra clear view of the underside of the car, van or lorry being searched.

It is mounted on castors for easy movement, has a 330x265mm convex mirror to offer a wide field of view. The hinged handle, which is 95cm long, can be lowered to ground level for maximum under-vehicle penetration.

The energy efficient 12W fluorescent lamp has a two metre flying lead and can also be used independently as a search lamp. You can buy replacement mirrors and replacement light sources.

The device is available in three models. The D cell model is powered by 10 D cells which fit into the handle and provide eight hours of continuous operation; the externally powered model comes with an eight metre power cable fitted with crocodile clips for operation from a suitable 12V DC, 1A external supply, and the Rechargeable model is fitted with a 10 cell rechargeable Ni-Cad battery pack. A separate recharger and lead are also supplied.

PW Allen’s managing director Roy Peers-Smith said: “For professionals who need to search under vehicles quickly and be confident of not missing the signs of illegal activity, you can’t get better than this trolley-type search mirror. Extra special care has been taken during its design to make sure that it is simple to use in the field.”

The firm, based in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, was set up more than 50 years ago and has long-established connections with the British Army, police, security, immigration and Custom & Excise authorities.
