HALŪ Gets an Upgrade

28 September 2006 11:07

Allen-Vanguard, world leader in internal security, has updated a core component of its Hook and Line (HALŪ) Rigging System. The self-opening Snatch Block Pulley is now stronger and faster to operate and is being rolled out across the entire HALŪ range during 2006 and 2007.

The Snatch Block Pulley has a unique, patented design only offered by Allen-Vanguard, for use in conjunction with other HALŪ components for a range of EOD/IEDD operations. It is fitted with an automatic release mechanism that frees the line at a pre-determined point, allowing objects to be manoeuvred around corners or obstacles. It can also be used with an omni-directional splitter ball, which reduces the risk of rigging the line incorrectly under pressure.

After detailed research and feedback from end-users, Allen-Vanguard has redesigned and engineered the Snatch Block Pulley to make it more compact yet able to function to a higher maximum load of 225kg. It is fully compatible and interchangeable with its predecessor.

Roy Peers-Smith, managing director of Allen-Vanguard, explained: “We pride ourselves in being at the frontline of current events and this means continually upgrading our products to keep them cutting edge. The new Snatch Block Pulley allows wider flexibility and is more user-friendly than ever before. All components in the HALŪ range have been stringently tested and are intended to offer the field operative enhanced control when dealing with the continually diverse nature of EOD/IEDD scenarios.”

The full HALŪ Rigging System comprises more than 100 components including lines, reels, hooks, eyes, grips, slings, anchors, wedges, karabiners, clamps, pulleys, window breakers and tripod attachments. They can be used in isolation or in a variety of configurations to be employed as an integral part of EOD/IEDD operations, whether in buildings or vehicles and urban or rural locations.
