ABP are pleased to announce the launch of MANTIS, a new product to augment its established and respected range of disruptor equipment.
MANTIS is a lightweight disposable disruptor which has been designed to provide equivalent disruptive performance to ABP's pigstick disruptor, thus providing the de facto standard capability in disruption of IEDs, such as those contained in briefcases and similar-sized packages. Comparative performance has been proven through a series of tests using impact measurement, radiography, high-speed photography and simulated targets.
The MANTIS operates using the same UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) approved cartridge as Pigstick, and as such, the logistics and approvals processes for organisations operating both Pigstick and MANTIS are simplified by the requirement to hold only one ammunition type.
MANTIS is particularly suited to applications such as special forces operations, where equipment weight and ease of deployment are paramount. The MANTIS is also particularly suited for use on small ROVs with limited payload-carrying capability, or to allow multiple weapons to be carried by a single ROV.
