DSG - Fleet Management, Engineering and Repair Services

Defence Support Group (DSG) provides fleet management services across a broad spectrum of vehicle and equipment types to a diverse range of customers include the British Armed Forces, industry, emergency services and local government. Services include the following.

TOTAL FLEET MANAGEMENT

Through-life management of assets from acquisition to disposal, day-to-day fleet management, ensuring customer availability and operational performance through innovative contractual and partnering agreements.

CONTRACTING FOR AVAILABILITY

To provide predicted and demanded items of supply to ensure customers operational performance requirements are met at the required levels of available capacity. Responsible for all aspects of service delivery and support of assets against an agreed performance criteria, for which an agreed annual fee is charged.

RE-MANUFACTURE AND ASSEMBLY

Complete refurbishment of in-service and obsolete platforms and equipments, assembly and integration of new vehicles, and assemblies for the MoD and commercial fleet organisations.

COMPLEX SERVICE AND REPAIR

Support of large differing fleets of assets, geographically dispersed, requiring ad-hoc, extensive and diverse repairs across a comprehensive product range.

Strategically located sites and a comprehensive support network, DSG's coverage is further enhanced through its mobile support teams, extending the flexibility and geographic coverage. Capabilities include:

FACILITIES: TEST AND REPAIR AREAS

Extensive facilities exceed 25 acres of actual test and repair areas. The sites are geographically dispersed throughout the UK and embrace a multiplicity of engineering disciplines.

Facilities include specialist clean rooms, metal treatment and preparation systems, engine, gearbox and hydraulic testing houses.

SERVICE, REPAIR AND RE-MANUFACTURE EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Working closely with its many customers, both in Government and industry, DSG has developed a capability and knowledge base covering a broad spectrum of skills, technologies and equipments. Success to date has been based on a winning combination of innovation, complemented by people having the necessary practical skills and knowledge of repair and re-manufacture. This is demonstrated by the organisations’ accreditation to the ISO 90001:2000 and Investors in People standards.

With comprehensive training facilities, an average of 75 young men and women are employed for full indentured apprenticeships. These cover the wide range of skills and competences required by the workplace and provide DSG with the engineering specialists the business requires down-stream. The training centre is accredited with the authority to award National Vocational Qualifications in engineering at levels 2 and 3.

In line with business objectives, DSG has increased its level of new business and been successful in developing relationships outside the Ministry of Defence with a number of major Original Equipment Manufacturers.
