Koluman - Tank-Transportation Trailers

Two major companies denoting quality and trust in Turkey, Koluman Kögel and Efe have broken new ground in the Turkish defense industry. Having observed the serious difficulties in the transportation of tanks and armoured vehicles for many years, these two leading corporations have pooled their forces and pioneered a cardinal project for the transportation of defense vehicles.

Koluman and Efe, which merged in 2006, have turned a new page in the transportation of tanks and armoured vehicles by producing the tank transporter low bed semi-trailer with six axles and a carrying capacity of 70t.

Tank transporters

With a superior manoeuvrability, the tank transporter low bed semi-trailer has been introduced to the armed forces. Produced for the purpose of transportation of any freight compatible with vehicle specifications in terms of weight and volume as well as tanks, armoured staff transporters, heavy construction machinery and 20ft containers, the low bed constitutes a crucial platform for armies around the world.

The new-generation low bed semi-trailer is a state-of-the-art product satisfying expectations with its inherent features. Thanks to these features, low bed will play a pioneer role within its own segment both in Turkey and global area with its exceptional technical features.

Low bed semi-trailer transportation

The driving components of the low bed semi-trailer consist of six axles, four of which are of steerable quality. The transportation capacity of each axle is 12000kg. 24 tires are used on the vehicle, which are 285/70R 19.5 in size.

The master brake system of the vehicle is designed as a double circuit S-cam drum brake containing full dry-air ABS function, and there are twelve brake cylinders in total on the axles.

The vehicle includes an illumination system in compliance with directive 76/756/AT for highways; a blackout circuit is also integrated for military purposes.

Rugged tank transportation

The entire system is insulated against vibrations and shakes, and it operates via 24v continuous current. There are four current receiving sockets in total on the right and left sides of the vehicle.

The low bed semi-trailer is a product of superior quality with its high-resistant material used in the chassis and platform as well as axle steering mechanism and tyre pressure control system.

Moreover, the freight platform is equipped with fixing locks appropriate for container transportation, which strengthens The low bed’s safety of use and provides excellent options during use. The chassis and freight platform, made of high-resistant steel, are designed in such a way as to prevent slippage.

Secure tank transportation systems

Two trail rope rollers are located at the front side of the vehicle allowing a defective tank to be towed if necessary. There are four additional rope moving guides on the neck part of the vehicle for a defective tank to be towed. One diversion roller at a capacity of 40t, is available for the moving of a defective tank down the vehicle.

There are 14 fixing rings on the platform which are all appropriately located for fixing freight. There are pallet wedge fixing points for armoured vehicles on the freight platform, and fixing holes are able to change the wedge location by freight.

There are two loading platforms for pallet vehicles to get on the freight platform. Loading platforms are able to move laterally, and go down and up through the hydraulic system. The loading platform has a maximum 15° of inclination when set down, which facilitates vehicle loading and unloading applications. Loading ramps can be fixed on the vehicle in order to prevent slippage and knocking when the vehicle is on the move.

Transportation of heavy armour

The low bed is able to carry a tank with a trunk length of 4050mm, a barrel-excluded length of 7,700mm, and a barrel-included length of 9,770mm, exterior pallet track of 3650 mm, pallet width of 720mm, and pallet contact surface length of 5,200mm.

Additionally, the low bed is manufactured in such a way that it is able to carry two armoured vehicles with a trunk width of 2850 mm, a length of 5300 mm, exterior pallet track of 2540 mm, pallet width of 390 mm, pallet contact surface length of 2700 mm, making it the largest tank transporter on the market.

Container transportation

Having steerable wheels according to turning direction, Low bed is able to carry an ISO 1CC container at a length of 6058 mm (20ft) with its available technical features.

Capable of passing across 100cm of water, the low bed tank transportation trailer is offered to users with a transportation capacity with full freight and with suitable tractor unit >on 30% inclination on compressed soil, concrete or asphalt floor and on 20% lateral inclination.
