Elmacom - Designing, Manufacturing and Marketing RF and Microwave Products Destined for Military VHF-UHF Radios, Jamming and ATE for Radar Systems

Since their inception in 1998, Elmacom have extended their activities to the design and integration of complex units and equipment to customers' specifications to meet a variety of requirements for defence, civil and satellite communications. In 2001, the company was awarded ISO 9001-2000 certification by the certifying company DNV. Elmacom also has the required qualifications for working with the defence sector.

The defence communication division designs products for:

  • Military VHF-UHF radios
  • Jammers
  • ATE for radar systems
  • Sub-systems for EW application (communication, ESM and ELINT)

ELMACOM MOVE TO LARGER PREMISES

Elmacom have recently moved to a brand new modern building of 1,500m² along the well-known Via Tiburtina where the most important industries of Italy's national defence are based. These larger facilities will gradually improve the production volume and widen the offer of services to our customers.

MINATURE VHF-UHF POWER AMPLIFIER

This amplifier of the E10100 family delivers 65W at 1dBc minimum output power over the 70MHz to 512MHz frequency range, 35W at 1dBc minimum over the 30MHz to 70MHz frequency range, a 43dB minimum gain, a 60dB gain control range, AM, video and pulse input modulation with excellent spectral purity and thermal efficiency over an extended temperature range of -40°C to 90°C. The new E10100-03-05 version comes in an aluminium hermetic case weighing only 120g, making it highly suitable for avionic radio and portable jammers.

225MHZ TO 400MHZ / 250W PIN DIODE OUTPUT POWER STEP-CONTROLLED HPA

The Model E10150 power amplifier module provides an integral convection cooled heat sink and PIN diode step attenuator delivering up to 250W maximum output power in a 2.5in by 5in size with a 50% efficiency and a +65dBm IP3. Using a directional coupler and AGC circuitry, a ±0.2dB power leveling can be maintained over the full frequency range. Protection is provided to offer a soft reduction of the output power as loads' VSWR increases. Remote controls are standard with all monitoring outputs (RF in alarm, OUT VFWD and VREF, AGC fail, VSWR alarm), available together with on / standby and battle-short controls.

1W SP6T FAST SWITCH

Elmacom have recently established investments in the design of microwave components. The Model E11082-01-05 operates from 2GHz to 8GHz with an isolation of 60dB and an insertion loss of 3dB, exhibiting a switching speed of 30ns at 50% TTL to 90% / 10% of the detected RF over a operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. Controls are in LVTTL logic and the hermetically sealed case measures 40mm by 30mm by 10mm.

MODEL E117 RADAR FIELD MEASUREMENT TEST EQUIPMENT

The Elmacom ATE Model E177 allows easy measurements of the key performances of a radar system aboard an aircraft, on the top of a vessel mast or inside a narrow space as available in a submarine. Housed in a 19in chassis weighing less than 25kg, it makes measurements from 0.5GHz to 18GHz either manual (keyboard or touch-screen) or remote. The equipment can be connected to a LAN for remote testing in harsh environments or far from the operator. Standard interfaces as RS 232/442, parallel and IEEE488 are also available.
