Preparation for troop deployment means more than possessing field-tested weaponry, combat apparel or meals. It means controlling hostile environments created by weather and remote locations. EVAPORATIVE COOLING UNITSIn order to efficiently meet these demands, equipment must be field-tested to create an environment that offers our men and women in uniform more creature comforts. The one product that has dramatically changed the environment for US armed forces is the Port-A-Cool® portable evaporative cooling unit. Port-A-Cool units can lower the surrounding air temperature an average of 15°F to 25°F and generate cool air. From the desert floor of the Middle East and the islands of the Pacific Rim, to the Rocky Mountain west, you will find Port-A-Cool units bringing relief and comfort to men and women in uniform. PORT-A-COOL COOLING UNIT ADVANTAGESPort-A-Cool units are environmentally friendly; they produce no fluorocarbons like traditional air conditioning or vapor compression systems. Using Port-A-Cool units instead of vapor-compression systems also helps reduce global CO2, CFC, and other greenhouse gas emissions. They are energy-efficient: evaporative cooling systems used worldwide save some 60 million barrels of oil annually and 27 billion pounds of annual CO2 emissions compared to vapor compression air-conditioning systems. Additionally, because energy consumption is so much less than traditional air-conditioning, your energy management is also more cost-effective. With superior fluting and manufacturing in Kuul® pads media, impurities are filtered out, producing cooler, cleaner indoor air. Port-A-Cool units can also be configured to become an energy-efficient addition to an existing system. Choose from four sizes of Port-A-Cool® electric units, three sizes of pneumatic units or two types of hazardous-location units. 16IN, 24IN, 36IN AND 48IN FAN BLADESPort-A-Cool portable evaporative cooling units are available in four sizes: 16in, 24in, 36in and 48in fan blade diameters, cooling from 900ft² to 4,000ft² efficiently. They are available in ten models, and all units feature durable one-piece molded plastic polyethylene housing. Both the unit and water supply are portable and perform at a fraction of the cost of standard air-conditioning, providing long-term dependability plus near maintenance-free operation. The units are environmentally friendly through efficient and effective resource use, and the entire unit is UL listed, (not just the components). INTENSE SPOT COOLING UNITSThe 16in Port-A-Cool units can be ducted for intense spot cooling. The 16in models with 22gal filler cart offer extra portability, running eight hours on the water source from the built-in tank. Three-speed and variable-speed models are available. The 24in variable speed model cools 1,800ft² and its low profile makes it perfect for smaller areas. The 36in family includes three-speed, single-speed, and variable-speed units and can cool up to 2,650ft². The 48in two-speed model cools a massive 4,000ft² area.
