RHEINMETALL DEFENCE ELECTRONICS - Electronic Equipment and Systems

RDE develops and delivers equipment, systems and installations for the armed forces on land. The company is one of the world's leading suppliers of sensors systems and electronic components for vehicles. Further core capabilities are in the fields of advanced optical and opto-electronic systems including training equipment, test systems and logistic services.

ELECTRO OPTICAL RECONNAISSANCE SYSTEMS

Up-to-date electro-optical sensors are to be found in wide-ranging system solutions such as in the sight systems of fire control units for armoured vehicles, in BAA observation and reconnaissance equipment or in the KZO reconnaissance UAV used by the German army.

The electro-optical reconnaissance systems manufactured by RDE supply reliable reconnaissance results at day and night, on land, on water and in the air and are being deployed by armed forces at home and abroad. In addition, highly sensitive unattended ground sensor systems used, for example, for monitoring sections of terrain which cannot be observed are included in the product spectrum. As unmanned, autonomously operating systems, they provide important reconnaissance results over long periods by means of an integrated sensor package, consisting of, for instance, acoustic, seismic and imaging sensors, as well as a suitable data transmitter.

COMMAND AND CONTROL SYSTEMS

C3I systems from RDE allow high-speed processing of reconnaissance data used for operational command of large military units. These systems provide a continuous detailed display of the tactical situation. Fundamental elements of the systems are the tactical terminal, command computer, mission data terminal and driver's indication unit. Tactical situations, commands, messages and alarms are transmitted quickly and without errors, digitized terrain maps are displayed on high-resolution color screens.

FIRE CONTROL SYSTEMS

RDE is one of the world's leading developers and manufacturers of fire control systems for different mission areas. The company has, for instance, equipped all of the Leopard 2 main battle tanks for the German Army and other allied forces with the fire control system.

ASRAD - ADVANCED SHORT RANGE AIR DEFENCE SYSTEM

ASRAD, the advanced short range air defence system, is a highly mobile solution for the protection of expeditionary forces against low level flying targets. It is air transportable, different missile types and various carrier vehicles can be chosen, and the system works autonomously as well as in network centric operations. ASRAD has the growth potential to cope also with future requirements.

EUROSPIKE MULTI-PURPOSE WEAPON SYSTEM

In cooperation with partners from Germany and Israel, RDE develops and manufactures the EuroSpike weapon system. This system with medium- and long-range missiles has been developed as an antitank missile system for infantry and special units. The missile system can however also used against other targets such as command posts, armoured vehicles or low flying helicopters.

TEST SYSTEMS

Expertise related to the maintenance, calibration and testing of advanced hardware round off the range of services available in the land systems unit. RDE offers universal systems for testing analog, digital and hybrid assemblies and subassemblies. The optical and optronic testing equipment enables the efficient monitoring and repair of laser range finders and thermal-imaging devices.
