Medical Coaches Inc. and AccSys Technologies Partner to Produce First Mobile Linear Accelerator Trailer

Philadelphia, PA; June 29, 2004 – AccSys Technology, Inc. (AccSys) a privately held California corporation with its plant and corporate headquarters in Pleasanton, California, has established itself as a leader in the commercialization and continuing development of ion linac technology; in conjunction with Medical Coaches Inc., a highly specialized manufacturer of sophisticated mobile medical trailers, Certified to ISO 9000, based in Oneonta, New York; announced today they have completed the manufacture of the industry’s first-ever Mobile Linear Accelerator unit which utilizes AccSys Technologies PULSAR™ system.
The PULSAR™ system is a reliable, low-cost solution to the growing need for positron emitting isotopes and tracers, particularly for the fluorine-18 used to produce FDG. Positron tracers such as FDG are used for diagnostic testing in oncology, cardiology and neurology.
The high-beam current capability results in high isotope production rates and the system’s modular design allows the customer to begin production with a low initial capital investment.
Hospitals will now have two distinct benefits with the Mobile Linear Accelerator:
- Access to locally produced radio isotopes at a minimal capital investment
- The ability to perform highly specialized cancer screening that require isotopes with an extremely short half life
