The Spanish Disaster Management Organization UME (‘Unidad Militar de Emergencias’) which is part of the Spanish Army has been handed over another Command Post System to be used in case of catastrophes. The system is completed with electronic equipment by the Zeppelin cooperation partner Siemens Spain.

The Command Post exists of three different Shelter sizes. The ‘Mallorca’ is a 3:1 double-side expandable Shelter with the reduced length of an ACE III Shelter (5m) to fit onto an IVECO 6×6 vehicle. During operation it is connected to a non-expandable ACE III Shelter called ‘Menorca’ on another Iveco vehicle. Other than its two sister products the third Shelter has not received the name of a Spanish island but of a Spanish city (‘Simancas’). This Shelter is also a custom-made product to fit onto the Spanish URO VAMTAC 4×4 vehicle. All three Shelters come with an independent power generator.

This is the second Command Post system of its kind to be received by the UME. Further systems will follow within this year. The idea is to place several of these systems in strategically important parts of the Spanish peninsula and on the Canary Islands.
