Zeppelin hands over first shelters of mobile hospital to Portuguese Army

14 December 2008

A delegation of the Portuguese Army has visited the Zeppelin factory in Friedrichshafen, Germany to receive the first two Shelters of their mobile hospital. The Operating Room and the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in 3:1 double-side expandable Shelters have been designed according to the latest and most sophisticated NATO standards. Both units are supplied with a HEPA filtration air condition unit and with medical gases (oxygen, nitrogen, compressed air and vacuum).

One of the great advantages of the design of the Zeppelin expandable Shelters - apart for the fast and easy deployment - is the fact that fix installations can be made directly to the expandable walls without having to be removed for transport and without conflicting with fix installation in the centre of the Shelter (e.g. operating table or surgical lights).

This year the Portuguese Army will continue with the completion of their mobile hospital. Next units to be procured are connecting shelters, recovery, sterilization, laboratory, X-Ray and even a CT unit.
