Lobatse Canvas, based in South Africa and Botswana, specialises in military tents, disaster relief shelters, custom-made tented camps and canvas products. In addition to manufacturing shelters, Lobatse Canvas also manufactures camping equipment, luxury tents, taught liners, tarpaulins, covers and accessories.
Lobatse Canvas design tents that are built to withstand long, arduous military operations in harsh environments. Customers can order optional mosquito windows, shade net flysheets and PVC floors for our tents. Our range of tents for military applications include hip roof, bell and cottage tents, and our general-purpose shelters.
Lobatse Canvas' military style, general-purpose shelters are modular in design and free standing; ideal for storage, medical units, schools, housing and workshops.
The hip roof tent comes equipped with four mosquito walls, a heavy-duty roof and a flysheet. It is held together by a 3,600mm centre pole, 12 wall poles, and 16 shadow steel / chain bracing lines with wall and anchor pegs. Lobatse hip roof tents are 5m x 5m (16in x 16in) in size and they weigh around 75kg.
We supply disaster relief cottage tents made to UNHCR specifications or to customer requirements. Our cottage tents are lightweight and compact for easy and rapid transportation to any area. We also sell military-style single and double fly cottage tents for command posts with optional floors.
Sister company to Lobatse Canvas, Botswana Cap & Helmet designs and manufactures uniform caps, military headwear, helmets, webbing equipment, embroidery, woollen berets, accoutrements, and military equipment and accessories.
Botswana Cap designs lightweight, ballistic helmets to protect soldiers on duty in demanding battlefield situations. Compared to steel helmets, our products provide up to 50% more protection against shrapnel and metal fragments from exploding ammunition or landmines. Botswana Cap's helmets are uniquely designed to protect both the head and neck from injury.
We manufacture a range of ballistic vests designed to protect the soldier from enemy fire while out in the field. Ballistics helmets and fragmentation vests significantly reduce injuries and fatalities to ground troops. Over the past few years our research and improvements in the field have been aimed at producing jackets to exceed N.I.J. standard 0101.03 specifications.
Our vests have a level 1-4 strength rating for protection and coverage. A level 1 jacket can withstand a 38 special round lead bullet travelling at 259m/s from a distance of 5m. A level 4 jacket can withstand a 30-60 bullet travelling at 868m/s from a distance of 5m.
Our company supplies a wide range of webbing equipment that includes military belts, pouches, combat jackets and back packs. They are manufactured in coated nylons, cordura's and other durable materials. Our equipment is supplied in standard, basic patterns that can be customised to individual requirements.
