Southampton, UK, 26th September 2006 - GEL Engineering Ltd has been awarded a contract from CAE USA to manufacture a C-130J Fuselage Trainer (FuT) for the United States Air Force (USAF).
Under the contract, GEL Engineering Ltd will design and build a high fidelity replica of the inside of the rear cabin section of the C-130J aircraft with functioning hydraulics and electrics. It will be used to train loadmaster personnel in loading and unloading procedures, aerial delivery, cargo ramp and door operation, and other normal and emergency loadmaster procedures.
The trainer has proved to be a very cost effective solution in reducing training costs for major C-130J operators such as the RAF and the USAF. This will be the second C-130J FuT to be supplied to the USAF following the successful installation and commissioning of the first training device in 2005. Other trainers are in service with the RAF for loadmaster and troop training.
GEL Engineering Ltd specialises in the design and manufacture of training simulations, bespoke test systems for PAT and qualification testing requirements, deployable shelters and special vehicles for the defence and aerospace markets.
