Made of lightweight, galvanised steel frames covered with expanded metals and then clad with PVC, Perma-Tents are rapidly erectable, safe, hygienic and durable. Perma-Tents are steel frame structures consisting of square tubing frames clad with expanded metals and covered with fire-retardant PVC. They are equipped with ventilators. ADVANTAGES OF PERMA-TENTSPerma-Tents can extend to any practical length and width. The tents can be divided into separate rooms, have lockable doors, are easily dismantled and erected, and are secure, durable, safe, hygienic and vermin proof. When Perma-Tents are used as permanent structures they are insulated, and can be plastered or gunited. The roof can be thatched or covered with any material desired. Perma-Tents can be used for a range of applications, including field schools, safari camps, barracks, dormitories, clinics or disaster-relief shelters. Components are inexpensive to replace, and Perma-Tents can be easily dismantled and transported on trailers, by sea or as airfreight. Each 6m² tent-panel weighs 60kg, and can fit in a container. TERRA-GRADERS FOR CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE OF GRAVEL ROADS Demco's associate company Terra-Graders (Pty) Ltd has developed the Terra-Grader for constructing and maintaining gravel roads worldwide. The Terra-Grader has a number of features that assist rural communities in their efforts; most notably providing water to rural communities for storage in bulk tanks. The Terra-Grader comes with a four-wheel tractor, which can be used for food production when not towing the Terra-Grader. REDUCED GRAVEL ROAD CONSTRUCTION COSTSTerra-Graders reduce the cost of building gravel roads, because capitol equipment that costs millions is unnecessary. Such equipment was often left inoperative, either because of a lack of spare parts, or budgetary constraints. Standard agricultural tractors, by contrast, are inexpensive, and can tow a wide variety of road-building equipment, including the Terra-Grader, dump-truck trailers, grid and towed vibratory-rollers, ploughs, road-sweeping brooms and bitumen tankers.
