Alaska Structures® - Deployable Military Shelter Systems

Alaska Structures® supplies the world's highest quality fabric shelter systems to military and commercial customers. The market leaders for shelters required in extreme environments, we design and manufacture robust, durable and easy-to-construct deployable shelters that are in current operational use for every military shelter application. We stand firmly by our motto, "Quality taken to extremes".

Soft-walled military shelter systems for combat operations

Alaska Shelters have been the choice of US and UK forces for soft-walled shelters for combat operations. Over 22,000 shelters for billeting, offices, combat support hospitals, C2 facilities, storage, workshops, hangars kitchens, and dining rooms have been in constant use in extreme Middle East climates over the past ten years, requiring very low maintenance support.

Our unique fabric structures are modular by design, portable or permanent, and stronger, safer, more comfortable, easier and more economical to mobilise than any other fabric or conventional structure.

Military shelter applications

With the most comprehensive range of military shelter designs in the world, Alaska Structures can and have provided a shelter for every conceivable military application.

The Alaska Small Shelter System® is a family of shelters designed to provide protection for personnel, equipment and supplies in all types of extreme climate and terrain. Similarly designed shelters can be complexed to provide medical facilities, decontamination units, command centres and complete billeting camps.

For large storage facilities, warehouses, workshops and hangars Alaska Structures provides free-span shelters up to 50m wide and any length required.

Complete shelter systems

Alaska Structures provides complete shelter systems by complementing their comprehensive range of military shelters with Environmental Control Units (ECU’s), electrical lighting and power distribution systems, purpose-built re-usable containers for transport and storage, sub-flooring systems, furniture packages, kitchen/dining facilities, laundry facilities, and medical equipment packages.

Alaska ECU’s

Alaska Structures has a family of Alaska Environmental Control Units (2.5 ton, 5 ton and 10 ton units) that provide easily portable heating, ventilation and cooling to any military shelter. Over 5,000 Alaska ECU’s have been provided to US and UK forces in the past 5 years.

These modern, lightweight, compact ECUs are highly efficient, simple to operate and easy to maintain. The in-service 17.5kW and 8.25kW units have a high commonality of components ensuring ease of maintenance and low logistic burden.

Alaska containers

The Alaska Containers provide high-quality tough re-usable packaging for all military shelters. Easy to transport and store, these containers have been tested and approved for all forms of surface and air transport.

Design, test and evaluation

Alaska Structures has designed military shelters for every application ranging from command posts fitted to Land Rovers, to hangars for C17 aircraft. A complete range of modular military designs is available. Each of these designs is flexible and can be adapted for specific customer requirements. Together with the individual shelter we have a unique range of connecting systems and 4-way hubs that provide complete inter-connectivity between any size and type of Alaska Shelter and can link in other shelter types as well.

Alaska Shelters are the most comprehensively tested military shelters in the world. Alaska Shelters have been successfully tested at US government laboratories and 3rd party independent laboratories to withstand a 20 lb per square foot snow load, 70 mph sustained wind speeds (with 80 mph gusts) and a 4in per hour rain load with 55mph wind speeds. Alaska Shelters have also been successfully tested to provide an internal shelter temperature range between 65F to 75F when tested in ambient temperatures ranging from -25F to +120F with only 60,000 BTU’s of air conditioning and 12kW of heating.

Low whole-life cost shelters

This tough durable design, combined with the use of the highest quality materials, results in the lowest whole-life cost of any shelter system in the world.

Accidental minor fabric damage is easily repaired in the field by the user. Strong and tough frame components are rarely damaged, but we provide a fast and efficient support service anywhere in the world that can be tailored to meet and exceed customers' requirements.
