DSEi 2007 will showcase technologies from around the world that have been developed to counter the diversity of threats facing nations today. The need for governments to reconcile defence spending with constrained budgets is driving developments in areas such as affordable technology and systems upgrades. At the same time, DSEi is an important platform for advances in new technology, such as UAVs.
A significant new development this year is a high level conference addressing transformation strategy for people, policy and acquisition within the global defence community. The show will also focus on the promotion of cross-border partnering, including the significant role of Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs), in the development of new technologies.
Five months in advance of the show, DSEi 2007 is already on course to be 25% bigger than in 2005. Brazil, India, Russia, Lithuania, Romania and Turkey are all organising pavilions for the first time, while existing pavilions such as the USA and Denmark have expanded their space.
DSEi is a tri-service show, a feature which has strong appeal for visitors. This includes the ability to berth naval vessels in the waters next to ExCeL's exhibition halls. Visiting DSEi this year will be vessels from Germany, the Netherlands and the UK, with other countries yet to be confirmed.
