Today's military and defence markets demand high speed, reliability against shock and vibrations, signal integrity and lightweight interconnect systems. Based on 50 years of experience in the civil and military aviation, and the defence industry, Hypertac has developed a wide range of electrical connectors and interconnect solutions with power, signal, coax, fibre and high-speed copper contacts, specifically designed for harsh and demanding environments and already widely adopted in future combat system (FCS) programmes.
Hypertac connectors include PCB, rectangular, filter ARINC, circular, D-Sub, high power and stacking connectors. Based on the superior Hypertac Hyperboloid® contact technology, they offer a high number of mating cycles, low mating force, shock and vibration immunity, low electrical-contact resistance, and self-cleaning wiping action. Lightweight, robust military connectors.
Lightweight, robust military connectors
The SnapTac® is a lightweight, robust, quick release, miniature connector delivering exceptional signal integrity, IP67 sealing, EMI shielding and the robustness to meet the demanding specifications required in FCS programmes, such as Soldato Futuro, FIST, IDZ, and FELIN.
It is equipped with Hypertac HyperSpring® spring loaded contacts and is available in both circular and rectangular versions. The connector plug is offered with and without over-moulding and cabling, following requests for both turn-key solutions and easy integration into existing designs. Applications include:
The SnapTac connector system is designed to protect the electrical interface against extreme environmental conditions such as:
High power, single pole, quick-release circular military connectors
Modern military vehicles require additional advanced technologies that enhance performance, survivability, mobility and stealth. Efficient generation, distribution and storage of electrical power are critical.
Applications requiring advanced technology include:
Hypertac's robust HBB connectors combine high current handling with smaller size and exceptional performance in harsh environments, which is required for demanding power systems applications.
Designed for easy mating and quick release, the connectors attain standard current ratings of 300A and 500A (750A available on request) with high reliability and excellent integrity. Hyperboloid contacts produce contact resistance figures as low as 0.05mW, which help in reducing resistive losses. This both eases the task of thermal management and allows better power handling in a smaller space with a lower overall mass.
HBB are offered in metal or plastic shells, are IP 67 sealed, feature 360° EMI/RFI shielding, and have a polarised design with options that ease assembly, allowing simple maintenance and speedy changeover.
Shielded connectors
Designed for test and measurement applications, the rugged HOB connector offers a protection against electromagnetic interferences and an increased durability of more than 20,000 mating cycles, with a very low insertion force.
Equipped with a robust metallic shell, the HOB ensures a minimum EMI protection of 60dB at 200MHz, which is reinforced by mounting the receptacle directly onto the panel of the test equipment.
The modular construction of the HOB allows the user to custom configure and combine signal, power (up to 50A), high speed (coax, twinax, triax and quadrax) and fibre-optic contacts.
