Late on Friday, May 11, Ultralife Batteries, Inc. accepted a modification from the US Defense Department to the order for its BA-5390 battery, which was announced on Wednesday, May 9, 2007. The US$6.9 million order, with scheduled deliveries through December 2007, has been modified to US$2.4 million, with deliveries through August 2007. An error in the Defense Department's procurement system caused the issuance of an order covering a longer-than-intended period of time.
"We have always cooperated with the government on contract and order modifications and this is no exception," said John D Kavazanjian, Ultralife's president and chief executive officer. "We have no reason to believe that this adjustment reflects any change in the underlying demand for our product."
