Saft Signs Four-Year Contract with the French Army to Provide Primary Lithium Batteries

29 November 2006

Saft today announced the signature of a contract with the French Army (Direction Centrale des Marchés de l’Armée de Terre, DCMAT) for a total of up to €10 million per year. This contract will provide lithium cells and batteries for power equipment to the French Army (DCMAT) over the next four years.

In winning this contract after an international call for tender, Saft confirms its position as the first battery provider to the French Army (DCMAT) and strengthens its leading position as a primary lithium-battery provider.

Used by the DCMAT as the main power supply or memory maintenance device for military radio communications, such as PR4Gs, or runway lighting, these primary lithium-batteries are built and assembled by Saft in its factory in Poitiers.

An initial €4 million order has just been registered and will, under this contract, allow for the first deliveries to be made by the end of 2006.
