London-based company MEO Products (MEO) has been working in the defence sector for over ten years and specialises in the introduction and distribution of innovative technology to the land, air and maritime defence industries.

Today, MEO introduces advanced technology into its customer base from both in-house design and from key overseas suppliers.

Cyclone external combustion engine

MEO has recently embarked upon its most ambitious project to date - the introduction of the revolutionary Cyclone external combustion engine into the defence market. The Cyclone engine has been developed in the USA by Cyclone Power Technologies and Advent Power Systems. MEO is the exclusive marketing licensee in the UK for military applications.

Cyclone engine technology represents the first breakthrough for many years in the field of prime mover systems - the engine recycles its heat, which allows it to run more cleanly, coolly, quietly and with lower vibration levels than traditional internal combustion engines. It also promises considerably lower maintenance costs due to a very much lower parts count.

Man-portable generators

Cyclone engine technology is highly scalable and sufficiently powerful for applications ranging from lightweight man portable 80W units weighing less than 3lb for small generators, through to engines for cars, trucks, buses, surface craft and others.

The Cyclone engine is capable of running on any liquid or gaseous fuel, including ethanol, bio-diesel and propane as well as a mix of fuels, without the need for any component changes or adjustment. It already meets the UK Renewable Transport Fuel Obligations (RTFO).

The history MEO has, of introducing such innovative changes and emerging technologies leaves us well placed to bring the Cyclone products to the demanding military customer base.

We will initially introduce Cyclone in the lightweight man-portable 80W unit form and are to follow this with designs for higher power products. We will also focus on bringing the benefits of lower maintenance costs to the retro-fit sector.

Military visual and targeting aids

MEO is also associated with the introduction of numerous visual and targeting aid technologies into the UK defence market including holographic night-vision goggles, see-through video cameras, personnel-worn image collection systems for aircrew, gunners remote display systems, target tracking devices and laser technology.

Night vision goggles: NVG IRS

MEO supply night vision equipment, systems and related components. The MEO night vision goggle image recovery system (NVG IRS) is a low cost, lightweight, man-mounted video recording system totally independent of the platform.

Gunners remote aiming display system: GRADS

The GRADS offers the user a lightweight, high resolution, robust video display that is an ideal solution for applications requiring high resolution performance, in a restricted space envelope and with total independence from the platform.

Stabilised portable optical target tracking receiver: SPOTTR

SPOTTR detects reflected laser energy from tactical targets in air support (CAS) environments. It provides JTACs with a capability to verify the target being lased and provides positive identification of the target prior to weapons delivery. It also serves as a x12 monocular with day or night capability.
