ThalesRaytheonSystems - C4I Systems and Radars

ThalesRaytheonSystems is an international company specialising in air defence systems and a global leader of air operation command and control systems, and 3D air-defence, battlefield and counter-battery radars. ThalesRaytheonSystems is equally owned by Raytheon and Thales.

AIR DEFENCE C4I SYSTEM

The tactical SCCOA Martha air defence C4I system is used by the French Army for management of the third dimension (strategic assets and / or battlefield area protection). It provides command, coordination and optimisation of firing of all types of anti-air weapon systems; direct control of all parties in the third dimension; and planning, tasking and execution of all low-altitude missions

Operational features include:

  • High mobility
  • Capability to be connected to more than 30 radars
  • Control of 100 weapon systems

COMMANDVIEW™ JOINT-OPERATION C4I SYSTEM

The CommandView joint-operation C4I system supports joint operations by integrating all sources of information (resource and planning data, sensors and intelligence). It operates inside the enemy's decision cycle.

A modern N-Tier software architecture comprises C2E RA, DIICOE and JTA compliant equipment. Fully fault-tolerant and redundant, with Java and J2EE to ensure portability and scalability, it can use Windows®, Unix and Linux.

System security features include:

  • User access, database and network protection
  • Role-based access control
  • Event logging
  • Multi-language support
  • Network-centric design

The CommandView joint-operation C4I system can provide:

  • Data management
  • Geographic information
  • Situation and status management
  • Logistics planning
  • Air mission planning
  • Air traffic planning and de-confliction
  • Air surveillance
  • Common and system services

LONG-RANGE AIR-DEFENCE RADARS

The Ground Master 400 family is the world's first set of long-range high, medium and low altitude radars. Multi-mission air defence radars, they are dedicated to the protection of key assets and forces deployed in remote theatres.

INTERMEDIATE AIR-DEFENCE RADARS

The RAC 3-D multi-mode radar for the co-ordination of medium, short and very-short range air-defence weapon systems provides a 3-D air picture up to 100km. The RAC 3-D detects and classifies modern threats, including medium to very-low altitude hovering helicopters.

The AN/MPQ-64 Sentinel is a three-dimensional, phased-array system that operates in the X-band to automatically detect, track, identify, classify, and report airborne threats, including helicopters, high-speed attack aircraft, cruise missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles. It performs this far quicker than short-range weapons, providing early warning.

SHORT RANGE AIR-DEFENCE RADARS

Designed for surveillance, early warning, target acquisition and designation for SHORADS and VSHORADS, Gerfaut family radars are invaluable everywhere on the battlefield. They support battle corps' anti-aircraft defence, provide alerts to mobile troops, and protect vital assets and key points against air threats.

They have a proven capacity to detect and classify any threat – including hovering helicopters – up to 30km away.

WEAPON LOCATING RADARS

ThalesRaytheonSystems' compact, mobile, combat-proven AN/TPQ-36 Firefinder radar accurately, rapidly and automatically locates medium-range enemy mortars, artillery, and rocket launchers. It can handle simultaneous fire from weapons at multiple locations – detecting and reporting their positions on the first round – and also direct accurate counterfire to neutralise enemy positions.

LONG-RANGE SURVEILLANCE RADARS

ThalesRaytheonSystems' combat-proven AN/TPQ-37 Firefinder is the first radar capable of quickly locating long-range mortars, artillery and rocket launchers, even beyond those weapons' maximum effective ranges. After tracking a shell for only a few seconds, the AN/TPQ-37 weapon-locating radar can determine its point of origin.

MULTI-MISSION RADARS

Conventional air command and control systems are only effective against conventional threats. With its unique features, MASTER-A is specifically designed to enhance existing systems and make them effective against emerging threats, such as ballistic missiles and sophisticated weapons such as high-manoeuvring aircraft, UAVs or cruise missiles.

PASSIVE RADAR SENSOR

The Homeland Alerter 100 is a passive radar sensor using illuminators of opportunity provided by FM radio broadcasts. Facing an ever-evolving threat, mainly at low and very-low altitude, the Homeland Alerter 100 has been developed to offer operational capabilities for homeland security or projection.
