Parvus Corporation has announced the availability of the DuraCOR 820®, a rugged, ultra-small tactical mission computer measuring less than 3in in height and 3lbs in weight.

Fully qualified to MIL-STD-810F environmental specifications (altitude, thermal, shock, vibration and humidity) and now available commercially off the shelf (COTS), the DuraCOR 820 will be on display at booth 1906 of the AFCEA/USNI West 2009 Conference. AFCEA West is the largest defence and technology exposition and conference on the west coast, and will be held at the San Diego Convention Center from 11 February to 13 February.

The DuraCOR 820 serves an ideal high-performance computing subsystem for space/weight-conscious manned and unmanned systems. Designed for military and aerospace ground mobile and airborne deployments, the DuraCOR 820 features a conductively-cooled 1.4GHz Intel Pentium-M processor and solid-state disk pre-loaded with a Linux or Windows XP Embedded operating system. This corrosion/splash-resistant unit is qualified to reliably operate in ambient temperatures of −40°C to 71°C, 15G operating shock, 95% humidity, 60,000ft altitude and aircraft/helicopter vibration profiles.

Rugged, watertight ultra-miniature Mil-spec performance connectors bring out dual 10/100 Fast Ethernet network connections, MIL-STD-704E power input, analog video, 3×USB, 2×RS-232, DIO, keyboard and mouse. This robust combination of function and small form factor ruggedness enables the DuraCOR 820 to support a wide range of applications, including Command and Control (C2) On-the-Move, Unmanned Vehicle Operator Control and C4ISR Situational Awareness.
