Laserdyne - Durable Flat Panel Displays, Solid-State Digital Video Recorders and Rangefinders

Laserdyne Technologies specialises in rugged flat-panel display, solid-state video recorders, and digital laser rangefinders for military and paramilitary land, sea, and air applications throughout the world.

All Laserdyne products are ruggedised, featuring tough and robust construction, housings machined from solid billet, resistant finishes, protected against weather and extreme temperatures, and vibration and shock proof capabilities.

Durable advanced flat-panel displays

Available in both standard and multi-functional models, the Black Opal range of flat panel displays are amongst the most rugged on the market. Sizes range from 6.4In to 19In, and supprted resolutions include VGA and SXGA with a high definition option for higher resolution models.

Black Opal features an adjustable day mode for use in full direct sunlight and an adjustable night mode available in red for covert night operations and dark-adapted eyes, or green for compatibility with night vission goggles. Tough antireflection window coatings further enhance readability. Black Opal facilitates multiple inputs and up to five or more screen presentations, with simultaneous display of up to two video and one PC (analogue RGB) inputs.

Black Opal flat panels offer an unparalleled range of visual interface features, inluding:

  • Compensation for obscurants such as smoke, rain, fog, snow, smog and dust
  • 16 digital zoom levels, fully interpolated in X and Y
  • Freeze-frame for current image until live video is resumed
  • Preloaded colour palettes are applied to monochrome imagery: TRUE (original state), INVERTED (swap black for white), or PSEUDO COLOUR (colourised) with two different preloaded palettes available
  • Motion edge tearing compensation, or jagged edge compensation, minimising the jagged edges that can occur with motion in video on LCDs

Solid-state digital video recorders

MemorEyes is a solid-state digital video recorder for intelligence-gathering operations such as military and police surveillance, monitoring, and evidence acquisition. Memoreyes features onboard controls, a simple graphic user interface (GUI), and total user-friendliness - only three buttons are required to perform any function in any mode.

Memoreyes also includes a comprehensive webpage interface, allowing users to configure parameters to their preferences via a PC.

Memoreyes may be installed in series with or parallel to Black Opal, other brands of display (depending upon features), or stand-alone (on-board control allows for completely independent operation).

Surveillance video recorders

MemorEyes can store more than three hours of footage at full frame-rate and highest quality (lowest compression) setting. The recorder's MJPEG2000 scheme treats video as a sequence of still frames, each encoded as a whole, rather than a series of tiles or blocks. This makes MemorEyes ideally suited to surveillance applications, where stills may be needed to recover critical information such as licence plates and faces.

Video footage is stored in convenient files for download selectively or entirely, with no frames lost between files. "Event" marking features can be used to identify files of critical interest. Memoreyes features a compact, removable solid state storage device. Alternative storage destination, with half the capacity of internal medium, allows quick swap-out for mission continuity,

Advanced digital rangefinding technology

RangePRO are a range of compact and stand-alone OEM range finding modules, and hand-held model range finders featuring ranging rates varying from single shot to 20Hz, and range capabilities from 2km to 30km. RangePRO’s unique digital rangefinding techniques extract more useful data from a single ranging pulse than any other method on the market today.

Multiple target detection allows for true multiple targeting solutions - range gating is optional but unnecessary and range data is returned for any selected target. Real returns can be identified and extracted even under conditions that result in low signal-to-noise ratios.

RangePRO rangefinders employ compact, reliable laser modules - the subsystem in any laser rangefinder which dictates the ultimate system reliability. RangePROs use on a miniature, ultra-reliable, flashlamp pumped type for single shot to 1Hz operation; and a diode-laser pumped type for repeat-pulse applications.
