Smart display units for combat vehicles

Smart displays units (SDUs) integrate combat vehicle displays with high-end computing and graphics processors. They are specifically designed to address Size, Weight, Power and Cost (SWaP-C) challenges on military ground vehicles today. General Dynamics Canada offers a variety of SDU product lines and customized solutions for individual platforms.

General Dynamics Canada products include a range of rugged displays with sizes from 2"x4" to over 20". Our displays incorporate computing capabilities, programmable bezel button and touchscreen user interfaces, various mounting options, and a range of video and data input and output. General Dynamics Canada also offers 3U/6U Compact-PCI Intel-based conduction-cooled single-board-computers, single-board power supplies, and rugged computers for military vehicles. Many of our products can be customized to individual platform needs.

Military rugged display standards

Performance standards include MIL-STD-810E, MIL-STD 1275AT, MIL-STD 461D, and nuclear hardening. Displays are optically engineered, and configurable with features such as sunlight viewable, high brightness, NVIS compliance, night vision goggle compatibility and low power consumption. Display inputs available include analog RS-170 black/white and color video, analog and digital input.

A full range of extreme environmental qualification is available, such as operating temperatures from -46°C to +71°C - our fielded products have extensive qualifications which may reduce the need for further qualification for new programs and permit rapid fielding of new systems. Support for products extends to repair services, full qualification, testing, and product and program life cycle management.

SD7310 rugged smart display

The SD7310 rugged smart display is a 10.4" diagonal touchscreen display, and can switch between multiple channels of RS-170 analog video input, analog (VGA) input, and digital input.

A series of programmable buttons are lined up on all sides of the rugged military display - these can be used to provide commands to other system components, such as a rugged computer, a fire control system, a sensor pan and tilt, or any other device that can interpret a standard command string.

This rugged military display is conduction-cooled, fully sealed and immersible, and is built on the common display technology used in the US Army's Bradley, Stryker, and MRAP platforms.

MD7115 / SD7115 display

The MD7115 is a 15.4" diagonal multifunction display family that provides multi-input display and control functionality in a fully rugged, compact package. With optional touchscreen, processing, or built-in bezel buttons, this can be used as a control unit or as a complete computer, with the addition of a keyboard and pointing device.
