From the digital battlefield to the flight line, DRS Tactical Systems delivers the best ultra-rugged computer technology to the war fighter for any application.

Significant programs that we have been selected for include the US Army's Force XXI Battle Command, Brigade and Below (FBCB2), the Common Hardware/Software II and III (CHS-2 and CHS-3) and the UK's BOWMAN integrated battlefield communications system. Additionally, DRS Tactical Systems is a strategic supplier of integrated consoles to a number of major prime contractors for land and naval applications.

Ultra-rugged computers

DRS’s RVS-330 rugged vehicle system (JV-5) is an ultra-rugged vehicle computing system. Designed to operate in and survive the harshest of environments, the RVS-330 offers the user dependable computing performance whenever and wherever it is needed.

Equipped with the latest off-the-shelf components, the system is designed to progress with technology. Expansion capabilities allow for user customization to suit a variety of needs, including a customizable expansion bay and two (2) 3U CompactPCI expansion slots for additional processor blades or other solutions. In addition, the sunlight readable display provides resolution conducive to intense operation in all temperature extremes.

The modern battlefield is relentless and calls for a hardened, reliable system. The RVS-330 is a proven system that meets or exceeds all environmental requirements from EMI to moisture to vibration. DRS’ proven and reliable RVS-330 rugged vehicle system offers digital technology the war fighter can count on.

Military Rugged Tablet (MRT)

DRS’s dual core Military Rugged Tablet (MRT) establishes new standards in features and performance for highly rugged military computers. The MRT meets MIL-STD-810F and MIL-STD-461E, and features embedded MIL-STD-1275 power conditioning. In addition to a type III PCMCIA slot, this ultra-rugged tablet offers a flexible connector panel, which allows each unit to be customized with a variety of standard communication devices, such as TacLink and PCIDM modems. All MRT’s have internal “flex” space that can accommodate a Garmin global positioning system (GPS) or an additional radio. A selective availability anti-spoofing module (SAASM) option is also available.

The MRT features a military-grade aluminum case with Intel’s 1.2GHz dual core processor and a 10in XGA or SVGA display with a dependable five-wire touch screen and NVIS capable display. The MRT can be hard-mounted directly into a vehicle platform, without the added costs of an additional vibration isolation kit.

DRS’s MRT is already the rugged computing tablet of choice for:

  • US Army - Mortars Fire Control Station and Intelligent Munitions Systems Control Station
  • US Marine Corps - Target Location Designation Hand-Off System (TLDHS / Strikelink) Program
  • US Air Force - Tactical Air Control Party Modernization Program

DRS’s MRT provides rugged and reliable computing to the war fighter for use in any mission-critical application. Soldiers depend on DRS computer systems that go wherever the mission is. You can count on DRS.
