Rheinmetall subsidiary NICO-Pyrotechnik Hanns-Jürgen Diederichs GmbH & Co. KG, of Trittau, has merged with Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH from Ratingen. The merger took effect on 7 August 2006, backdated to 1 January 2006 for financial purposes.
With their range of products being first and foremost used by police tactical response units and special forces of the armies, Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH - Branch Nico Trittau forms an important part of the Protective Systems and Pyrotechnics product group of Rheinmetall's Weapon Munition division.
