Rheinmetall Waffe Munition - Protection Systems and Pyrotechnics

Rheinmetall Waffe Munition (RWM) has specialised for years in developing highly innovative protection systems to combat sensor-guided weapons, offering means and systems for protecting people, vehicles, ships, aircrafts and military assets.

In addition, large calibre dedicated munition, training and exercise systems and ammunition, decoys, 40mm ammunition, stun grenades, signal flares, precise special-effects ammunition and other military and civilian pyrotechnics form part of the portfolio. Non-lethal weapons likewise play an important role in the future to support ground, air, naval and special forces.

MILITARY VEHICLE PROTECTION - SMOKE LAUNCHERS AND GRENADES

RWM offers innovative solutions and protection concepts, e.g. the MASKE Multispectral Smoke Grenade which generates a dense smoke screen within two seconds and guarantees the interruption of the line of sight for 40 seconds from the ultraviolet to the far infrared range, as well as decoy effects against electro optically guided missiles. The new Light Vehicle Protection System, a multi-mission, extremely light system, effectively provides spontaneous protection against conventional weapons.

SMOKE PROJECTILES FOR ARTILLERY AND MORTAR EMPLOYMENT

With its new multispectral and visual smoke projectile series, RWM has successfully developed a new generation of screening smoke ammunition covering the ultraviolet, visual, infrared and laser waveband. These include artillery ammunition (105mm, 155mm), mortar and illuminating mortar rounds.

LAW ENFORCEMENT

RWM meets today's military and police requirements during special operations. We offer a broad range of non-lethal sound and flash stun grenades, launcher systems and ammunition with various effects like irritant cartridges or impulse rounds as well as the infrared cover smoke hand grenade SPIRCO.

SHIP PROTECTION AGAINST ADVANCED ANTI-SHIP MISSILES

MASS - Multi Ammunition Softkill System: the MASS™ naval countermeasure system offers unique protection against intelligent precision weapons. The computerised decoy system protects vessels against attacks from modern, sensor-guided missiles at blue seas, in littoral areas and given a terrorist attack. Thanks to its innovative, programmable omnispectral ammunition, spontaneous effectiveness in all relevant wave bands, including UV, EO, LASER, infrared and RADAR, is guaranteed. Also available are 130mm decoy rounds for SRBOC launchers.

AIRCRAFT PROTECTION

RWM develops high efficient spectrally balanced infrared decoys, array flares and spot flares to protect carrier aircrafts, helicopters and jets against infrared-guided missiles, e.g. the Array Flare DM 69 A2.

OBJECT PROTECTION

Our concepts for spontaneous protection of military and civil properties, such as camps, command posts and power plants, are unique.

40MM AMMNUNITION

RWM offers the complete variety of cartridges suitable to all 40mm weapon types. The patented 40mm propulsion system guarantees predictable accuracy and performance to meet the forces' operational and training requirements. In contrast to all popular 40mm ammunition, our new propulsion concept offers more extended possibilities such as MOUT operations.

PYROTECHNICS

The product spectrum extends from conventional pyrotechnics such as illuminating and signal flares, via smoke grenades, coloured and screening smokes and precise special-effects ammunition, to practise ammunition, flash and stun projectiles and air target simulators.

The range of signalling smoke products provides flexibility with regard to the communication on the battlefield. The brilliant coloured smoke is based on organic dyes and is bio-degradable. A wide selection of colours, burning times, ignition systems and canister designs is offered.

During tactical training and manoeuvres the Shot & Kill Simulators are used to provide tank crews, troop formations, instructors and umpires with visual and acoustic effects of simulated actions.
