Scanfiber Purchase New Five-Axis Water-Jet Cutting Machine

11 August 2008

Scanfiber has contracted a delivery of a new water jet cutting machine with the company WJS, in order to achieve more flexible and modern production. The new machine will be delivered in the autumn of 2008, when the new factory is completed.

The water-jet cutting machine is designed with a five-axis cutter head, which means that the machine will be able to cut in angles of 45°. By means of an abrasive water-jet beam under very high pressure, the machine can cut through 100mm ballistic armour steel, composites and ceramics. Hence, Scanfiber will soon be able to support our customers with reduced delivery time and more complex solutions.

Scanfiber expands factory buildings and capacity

Scanfiber's new factory was ready on February 2006, but already at the end of 2007 new plans were made for a further expansion of the existing buildings to double size, approximately 3,000m². The construction will commence mid-June 2008 and the new facilities are expected to be ready in November 2008.

The administration will also be expanded to double size with an extra conference room and a large show room. Furthermore, this expansion includes extra offices, among other things a larger office landscape for our engineers and technicians. The production area will double in size, and here the main emphasis will be on storage capacity, which will be three-and-a-half times larger than the existing area. Additionally, a separate department for our new water jet cutting plant will be implemented.

The Scanfiber team is looking forward to the commissioning of the new facilities and to welcoming our customers at the new Scanfiber.
