ARMOUR PLATE COMPONENTS

MTL Group stocks and processes in excess of 10,000t of quenched and tempered steels per year, and is one of the largest stockists and suppliers of armour plate in the UK. We hold a wide range of armour steel stock and can supply kits of parts or stock sheets. We have pre-booked mill-rolling slots with the major European steel mills, which allow us to react quickly to our customer requirements.

BLAST ARMOUR

MTL Group specialises in the supply of components for blast applications, ranging from cut and formed parts up to fully-finished vehicle blast floors ready to fit.

BALLISTIC ARMOUR

MTL Group has vast experience in working with ballistic steel up to 600HB and can supply cut, formed, machined and fabricated components to customer requirements. Our waterjet facility allows us to process high, hard ballistic steel up to 200mm thick without affecting any of the material's properties.

PERFORATED ARMOUR

MTL Group can offer a bespoke service for the supply of perforated armour cut to customer requirements using our 20m x 3.2m bevel head laser, cutting either vertical or angled holes.

ARMOURED ALUMINIUM

MTL Group has direct links with the major mills for armoured aluminium and can supply components ranging from a simple waterjet cut profile to a fully machined and painted fabrication in both blast and ballistic grades.

LASER CUTTING ARMOUR

To compliment our seven existing laser cutting machines, MTL Group has invested in a new 20m long x 3.2m wide Messer Bevel machine, capable of cutting materials up to 25mm thick and also chamfers and weld preps of up to +/-50°.

WATERJET CUTTING ARMOUR

Our four-head 12m x 3m bystronic waterjet is one of the leading machines on the market, capable of cutting materials up to 200mm thick. It cuts the hardest material without any Heat Affected Zones (HAZ), thus eliminating any changes in material properties.

CNC PRESS BRAKING ARMOUR

MTL Group has invested in a new Ursviken 640t robotic CNC press brake, the largest installation of its kind in the world, to compliment our existing capacity of three press brake machines. This new press brake has a 600kg capacity robotic handling system and is capable of pressing components up to 7.2m wide.

ARMOUR FABRICATION FACILITY

MTL Group has more than 30 coded welders with experience of working with a range of materials up to 600HB. Our facilities enable us to handle fabrications up to 10t in weight and 8m in length by 4m wide, and we also have a range of robotic welding cells for high-volume components.

CNC MACHINING ARMOUR

MTL Group has an impressive range of CNC machining centres, and has both the ability and experience to machine armour plate up to 600HB.
