DEW - Vehicle Armor and Survivability Systems

DEW Engineering and Development (Canada) and DEW Industries (New York, US) have been supplying advanced composite armor systems to militaries around the world since 1994. DEW armor systems successfully meet or exceed the highest NATO protection and test standards and are made to exacting ISO 9001:2000 quality standards.

Our advanced composite armors provide improved performance and tremendous weight savings over steel / aluminum solutions. This reduced weight translates directly into increased vehicle payload and / or reduced vehicle life cycle costs.

DEW has the capacity to solve the challenges of armoring your vehicles with our experienced team of armor engineers, military vehicle specialists and production personnel. DEW's extensive experience in protecting against ballistic, mine-blast, and Improvised Explosive Device (IED) threats allows us to offer innovative solutions, with a clear edge in performance.

Vehicle armour for crew protection

DEW's R&D team and in-house ballistic range enables us to develop appropriate vehicle protections systems to counter emerging ballistic, mine and IED threats.

DEW can design and manufacture add-on kits or work with OEMs to optimize their solutions, and have done so for Canadian, US and New Zealand armed forces programs including Stryker and MRAP.

Armoured fighting vehicle upgrade, re-roles and life extension services

DEW refurbishes, upgrades and reconfigures military vehicles and shelters to as-new condition with more modern capabilities, thereby extending the lifespan of equipment.

Examples of military vehicle upgrade and refurbishment projects we have worked on include the M11 Life Extension and Bison Re-Role programs.

Military vehicle and shelter militarization

DEW designs, integrates and installs numerous kits to upgrade bare shelters or vehicle chassis to a functional capability for military or government programs.

We have delivered thousands of these kits for vehicles and shelters including ambulances, command posts, NBC shelters, mobile repair facilities, radio and communications stations, and cargo areas.

Integrated logistic and in-service support

DEW offer a wide range of design, testing, prototyping and manufacturing services, including:

  • Machining
  • Metal processing
  • Welding
  • Painting
  • Assembly
  • Integration

We also provide a full range of technical manuals and training.
