Ballistic steel, ceramic and glass-fibre military armourAML UK is a materials transformer that specialises in providing military armour products and solutions for a wide range of applications. Our product range includes Armotec ballistic steel, aramid, ceramics, glass fibre, and innovative materials that can either be used as a standalone solution or within a combined system. Ballistic and blast-testing of armour materialsOur experienced team can conduct extensive ballistic and blast testing of materials to international standards or against specific customer demands. AML UK has a technical library with considerable historical data of previous ballistic and blast testing results. The library provides our design team and CAD technicians with an invaluable resource when designing protection system solutions for customers. Our armour products are currently in-theatre on a number of platforms, both as structural and appliqué armour. Examples of such are vehicle and tank add-on armour, door and counter panels, ballistic shields and bullet-resistant seat backs. CNC waterjet and laser-cutting technologyAML UK is ISO 9001:2008 accredited and has comprehensive profiling and machining facilities including CNC waterjet and laser cutting, CNC routing and CNC brake press. We provide quality mouldings in a range of resins systems including polyester phenolic, vinylester and epoxy. Our company offers full in-house prototyping and production mould and pattern making, capable of producing high quality, complicated tools with a fast and efficient turnaround. Bending - Press brake that can produce variable demanding bends, ram parallelism, and stopping accuracy and repeatability. Cutting - Twin-head 2-axis and single-head 5-axis cutting, operating on a bed of 6000mm by 3000mm. The waterjet allows for multiple layer cutting and can profile a large range of materials up to 200mm thick. Laser profiling - 6m by 3m flat-bed laser, our laser profiling services can cut metal sheets, plates, and a variety of materials to produce high quality components. Resin transfer mouldings - Ensures all components have a good surface finish on both sides, while its ability to create close net shape mouldings reduces wastage and costs. Filiment winding and blast containers- High quality oval and round glass fibre products. We can create tubes up to 6m in length and 2.5m in diameter, including blast containers that are used in post offices, car parks and airports throughout the world. Thermoforming - Cost effective alternative to glass fibre moulding. The materials may include ABS, high-impact polystyrene and perspex.
